Requirements to the university professors competences in different countries of the world

The article examines the problem of defining professional and personal competences of the university professors. Its topicality is stipulated by the intention to enhance the quality of education and to improve the personnel policy. The author suggests a periodization of this problem development in Russian and foreign scientific literature. The additional reserves for defining the professors competences are found on the basis of the analysis of a wide range of national and university conceptual documentation.
