Methodology (Materials and Methods). To achieve the research aim, systemic and activity- based approaches were used, enabling the study of theoretical and practical issues related to the training of medical workers for educational activities among the population within the system of continuing professional education. Theoretical research methods were employed as a scientific instrument to achieve the stated objectives. Results. The study concludes that there is a need to develop a theoretical basis for the practical solution of ensuring the quality of educational activities within the social function of a medical university. Based on an analysis of relevant publications, it is concluded that lecturing practices are in demand not only in the professional education system but also in the system of continuing adult education. Using the example of the Open Lecture Hall of the South Ural State Medical University (SUSMU), the necessity of purposefully forming a lecturing corps from medical workers is analyzed. Characteristics of four groups of requirements that define the professional competency profile of a lecturer at the SUSMU Open Lecture Hall are presented. These requirements have determined the development of an additional professional development program aimed at improving the competencies of students necessary for the implementation of independent educational activities among the population on issues of healthy longevity.
