Requirements for Experts Involved in the Crimes Investigation with Minors

The paper reveals the main requirements for experts who are involved in the criminal cases investigation with minors. A major role in the investigation of these crimes belongs to persons who have special knowledge. At the same time, the selection of such persons is determined by their level of competence. The article analyses the very concept of “experts’ competence”, the basic requirements for the experts’ competence and the method of their formation. The author also pays special attention to the fact that specialists and the experts involved in the investigation of crimes must be independent and disinterested in the case. Purpose: to examine and justify the importance and appropriateness of the participation of competent, independent and disinterested knowledgeable persons in the crimes investigation with minors. Methods: the principles of materialist dialectics, epistemology and general criminology theory are used. The author also uses general and specific scientific methods: analysis, synthesis, deduction, induction, scientific forecasting, and description, formal legal, historical, comparative legal and statistical methods. Results: the study allowed us to develop a system of forensically significant criteria that determine the selection of persons with special knowledge when investigating crimes with minors.
