The article is devoted to the consideration of trendsetting as a modern phenomenon contributing to the recognition of actual trends in various spheres of public life. The notion of trendsetting and related terms is formulated, types of trendsetters are classified, perspectives of the phenomenon "trendsetting" in such areas as media industry, economics, education are outlined.
