Despite the advances in diagnostic techniques used in abdominal surgery, the diagnosis of acute appendicitis is still challenging. The last and the most accurate diagnostic method for both acute and chronic appendicitis is diagnostic laparoscopy. Myxoma (mucocele) of the appendix and appendiceal intussusception to the cecum are quite rare disorders. A patient can be diagnosed with myxoma of the appendix only intraoperatively. Isolated invasion of the appendix into the cecum is a rare form of intussusception.
