The purpose of this study is to review the negative situation on the youth labor market. Most universities follow the principle that ‘demand creates its own supply’ without a focus on real economic needs for experts in various fields. The academic shift towards theoretical training and the lack of experience make the graduates less competitive on the labor market compared to more experienced specialists. The problem of graduate employment will remain relevant for researchers in future. A sociological approach that allows one to examine an employment as a complex social process, which takes place in the field of social interaction between the individual and society, can make a significant contribution to solving the problem under review. The study provides findings that demonstrate the graduate recruitment monitoring in Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management.
