The literature review devoted to the role of mast cells (MC) in malignant growth has been presented. Mast cells are basic elements participating in remodeling of the extracellular matrix. Special attention has been given to relationship between MC and tumor neoangiogenesis. Qualitative and quantitative characteristics of mast- cell population in a tumor can be used in predicting disease outcome and postoperative survival of the patients
