The article discusses the main stages of the history of Tula Theological Seminary, which originated from the Kolomna Theological Seminary, at the beginning of the 19th century.. The activities of the rectors — Archimandrite, later Bishop Nikander (Pokrovsky) and Archimandrite, later Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy (Simansky) — are presented in detail. The features of the educational process and the causes of unrest among students at the beginning of the 20th century are also considered. Particular attention is paid to prominent graduates of the Tula Theological Seminary, some of which are currently canonized as saints. The work uses both published and unpublished sources from the Russian State Historical Archive and the State Archive of the Tula Region.
