Turbulence as a complex characteristic of the environment of a modern industrial enterprise

The purpose of this study, based on the systematization and analysis of specific characteristics of the external environment, is to form a complex strategic characteristic designed to provide an integral assessment of the state of the environment to substantiate the choice of strategic behavior of a modern industrial enterprise. It is assumed that since such an integral assessment is one of the main factors of choosing a method of strategic management, it should comply with the principles of materiality, complexity and possibility of level assessment. The methodological basis of the study is the theory of organization and the theory of strategic management. The method of structural and logical analysis and systematization of information is used in this study. As a result, the systematization of primary and secondary characteristics of the external environment with the allocation of mono- and multi-criteria parameters that evaluate its state, is presented. As an addition to the characteristics traditionally offered in the literature, it is proposed to use such a parameter as the unevenness of the external environment when describing multidirectional and asynchronous influence of factors on its specific components. The category of turbulence has been studied from the point of view of the possibility of its use as a complex characteristic of the external environment, for which the approaches to its definition have been analyzed and, on this basis, the refined definition has been formulated by the authors. The general result of the conducted research has become the proof of the possibility and expediency of using the category of turbulence as an integral level characteristic of the state of the environment and assessing its impact on the activities of an industrial enterprise.
