Tourism education in the context of the application of artificial intelligence

The tourism and hospitality industry has now been declared a priority area of development both in the Russian Federation as a whole and in many regions. It is no coincidence that the national project "Tourism and the Hospitality Industry" received additional development in 2024. The implementation of the national project has exposed elements that require additional attention and federal support, which is reflected in federal projects: the development of tourist infrastructure, increasing the accessibility of tourist facilities and improving management in the tourism sector. Each of their federal projects requires the active participation, support and support of competitive and qualified specialists. Unfortunately, at present, there is a situation of acute shortage of both highly qualified managerial personnel and professional line personnel in the tourism industry. This is due to both the low level of popularity of hospitality and tourism professions and the insufficient level of their training. The modern generation of potential employees, including in the hospitality sector, expect new educational formats and teaching methods from teachers. Artificial intelligence technology can help in this, among other things. How ready teachers are to use AI elements, how they implement it into educational and scientific processes, is presented in this article based on the results of a survey conducted by the authors of teachers of disciplines in the field of tourism and hospitality.
