Tourism in the Far Eastern federal district: current state and developmental prospects

Бесплатный доступ

At the state level, the development of tourism in the Far Eastern Federal District is a top priority on the country's strategic agenda. The district has been designated as a separate strategic tourist macro-region and benefits from preferential regimes. This study examines and summarizes the key measures of state tourism policy for the development of tourism in the district, as outlined in strategic and program documents, as well as national projects of the Russian Federation. The national measures include progressive tools for the comprehensive development of tourist infrastructure and initiatives to stimulate domestic tourism. The study also analyzes the current state and future prospects of tourism development in the various regions of the Far Eastern Federal District. While the industry as a whole in the district is showing growth towards pre-pandemic levels of 2019, it has not yet fully recovered. However, there are regions within the district that are experiencing positive growth in industry indicators. It is evident that the Far Eastern regions are actively improving their own regional policies for tourism development and participating in competitive selections to secure federal financial support. Despite strong state support, there are variations in the response to the implementation of progressive tools and support among different territories within the district.
