The creator and the character in the novel “The Thief” by L. M. Leonov

The problem of relations between the creator and the creation, the author and the character is one of the central problems in the novel “The Thief” by L. M. Leonov. The “core” of the novel is the contemplation, formally divided into many opposing each other points of view, of the rightfulness of the creation’s entering into an equal dialogue with the Creator, of the limits, which even the most skillful author will not be able to transcend, of the own truth of each of the opposing parties.
