The article focuses on the origins of the civilizational paradigm in political science, which are associated with the name of the Russian scientist N.Y. Danilevsky. The laws of historical-cultural types, developed by him, and opening the search for signs of a nation, which has been proceeding until now, are still considered to be the most thorough, since usually they constitute the basis of the modern researchers' theories trying to identify features of a nation and recognizing spirituality as a basic one. Currently the issues associated with the ideology of the Russian society development are quite topical. The scientific relevance of the research is determined by the author's proposal to examine the current development of the Russian society in the framework of the civilizational paradigm in the Russian political science.
