The article is devoted to highlighting the tradition of veneration in pre-Mongol Russia of Barbara of Iliopolis (Nicomedia (d. 306)) - a Christian holy great martyr involved in the history of Russia in connection with the bringing of the saint’s relics from Constantinople to Kiev. The relics were placed in St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery built in 1108 In the light of these data, it is interesting that there are two kontakia to St. Barbara in the Annunciation kontakara, the second of which is unknown. The presence of two kontakia allows us to make an assumption about the presence in antiquity of a local celebration of the bringing of the relics of St. Barbara of domestic origin
