Participation of the public in local self-government in the modern Russia

The article assesses participation of the society in the local self-government in Russia in general and in the Stavropol Territory in particular. The data of sociological researches on the subject is considered. The author explains the need to reinforce the work on the municipal level in the fulfillment of the interests and abilities of residents, social groups and entrepreneurs.
