Russia’s participation in Indonesia’s maritime sector

The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of Russia on Indonesia's maritime sector. This study focuses on the influence of Russia's economic and political interests on Indonesia's maritime sector. The results of this study show that overall, Russia-Indonesia maritime cooperation is still not significant, and Russia-Indonesia maritime cooperation is limited to defense and security. Meanwhile, if we look at other European countries, maritime cooperation is actively involved in the development of energy, fisheries, technology and services. European countries recognize the importance of Indonesia's strategic maritime position. For Russia, the Indonesian region has never been a political priority, but it is a partner in economic cooperation. Research method: This paper uses qualitative methods. This method provides a comprehensive understanding of Russia's involvement in Indonesia's maritime dynamics. This study uses the definition and explanation method, namely, interpreting the maritime concept as a basis for analysis, and then explaining the relationship between the concept of state interest and this concept. This type of research is a qualitative study that explains the correlation between two variables, namely the variable of Russian interest and the variable of Indonesian maritime space. The purpose of using this method is to obtain the results of the correlation between the two variables to clarify the essence of the problem, namely, Russia's search for interests in Indonesia in the maritime sector.
