The article examines current trends in the development of intercultural foreign language communicative competence through the use of various educational materials and multimedia technologies. Since the early 2000s, there has been a growing interest in intercultural and transcultural education, which is reflected in textbooks, teaching aids, and additional resources, including literary texts and films. The author emphasizes that successful competence development requires not only the availability of materials but also their thoughtful use in the educational process. The article highlights key aspects such as the necessity of critical analysis of teaching aids, the diversity of approaches to intercultural education, and the importance of considering cultural complexity. It also discusses issues of attribution and canonization of reading, as well as the need to integrate "soft" competencies into education. In conclusion, it is emphasized that modern education should take into account the multilayered nature of cultural contexts and move beyond traditional binary models, which will help develop an understanding of cultural diversity and improve intercultural communication.
