The purpose of the study is to analyze the main provisions of Aristotle's theory of the origin and essence of the state, the classification of forms of government in the context of the criteria of "correctness" and "incorrectness" in the philosophical and methodological interpretation of the ancient thinker. Research objectives: identifying the relationship between state, politics and society in the teachings of Aristotle in the context of addressing the study of the phenomenon of human social nature. The object of research is social relations that determined the emergence and development of state and law in the teachings of Aristotle. Research methods: dialectical, historicism, systems analysis. Conclusions are formulated regarding the role and place of political ethics in the teachings of Aristotle, its conditionality by the realities of the socio-economic and political development of ancient civilization. Based on the historical, theoretical and methodological foundation of the social and philosophical heritage of Aristotle, the historical and legal sources of the emergence and evolution of civil society as the most important and integral condition for the development and functioning of political democracy, a legal and social state in modern conditions are identified and determined. The author emphasizes the importance of the scientific and legal contribution of Aristotle to the study of the social and managerial aspects of the interaction of the family and the state in the formation of a socially oriented state policy aimed at creating the conditions necessary for the development of the middle class, which determines the political and economic stability of the state, the high efficiency of legal regulation of social relations. The leading provisions of political ethics in the teachings of Aristotle on the importance of state social policy pursued in relation to the family and children, in relation to property and property equality, socio-ethical criteria that determine the requirements for the ruling political elite of society, re-main relevant in modern conditions, determining the directions of development of the Russian model of democracy. The effective solution of a number of problems that have arisen in the course of the development of the constitutional and legal model of a legal and social state and its interaction with civil society dictates the need to take into account the relevant provisions of Aristotle's teachings.
