The article presents a holistic philosophical analysis of the anthropological teachings of St Luke Voyno-Yasenetsky. The basic assumptions and basic categories, including notions of anthropocentrism; soul as manifested in the human spirit; the heart as the supreme organ of knowledge; the dialectical relationship between form and matter; and the essential characteristics of consciousness, are elaborated. Microcosm is examined through the manifestations of the three parts: the spiritual, the mental and the bodily. Degrees of spirituality are defined according to a person's lifestyle and level of morality. The structure of consciousness distinguishes between acts, states and the volume of consciousness. Based on an analysis of St Luke's work, the authors conclude that his anthropological teaching is an original human study, reflecting scientific and theological-philosophical experience that demands profound reflection in modern philosophical communities.
