Impact interaction of seed material and the working surface of agricultural machinery

Seed treatment of agricultural crops from diseases and pests is an important agrotechnological technique aimed at increasing crop yields. Research on seed injury has shown that the least damage occurs when using drum seed treaters. Impact interaction of the seed material and the working surface of agricultural machinery is an important aspect in the design and operation of presowing preparation machines. This interaction affects the uniformity of seed distribution in the flow and, as a result, the quality of processing and the likelihood of injury. Important parameters in this case are the seed speed and the angle of incidence. For high quality seed treatment and reducing their injury, it is necessary to fully utilize the working volume of the seed treater chamber. To do this, it is necessary to establish the trajectories and technological parameters of the seed flow movement. In the study, it was assumed that the movement of bulk material in the drum is similar to the movement of one of its particles, taken as a material point, and the coefficient of sliding friction is taken to be equal to a constant value that corresponds to its average value along the entire path of movement along the surface. The movement of a particle of bulk material inside a hollow cylinder is considered. Analytical expressions for determining the location of the impact of a particle of bulk material on the inner cylindrical surface of the seed treater drum, the angle of incidence of the particle, and the time of movement are obtained. Interpolation of data according to the obtained expressions made it possible to construct dependencies of the angle of incidence of a particle of bulk material upon impact and the time of movement on the radius R of the drum. The obtained dependencies can be used in designing or improving drum technical devices for agricultural purposes, including seed treaters for agricultural crops.
