The article deals with the peculiarities of social communication in times of social instability by studying the opposition of “solitude” and “loneliness” concepts in the works of V.V. Rozanov. The author focuses on the religious interpretation of the solitude as a condition of spiritual growth. The concepts of solitude and loneliness are identical to two vectors of personal existential development. Philosophical analysis of Rozanov’s works, based on this dilemma, reveals the most vulnerable points of individual consciousness during the periods of social instability.
