There has been little historical research on the development of printed periodicals in Tambov region in 1917. In Moscow libraries (the Russian State Library and the State Public Historical Library), the following regional newspapers have been found: Borisoglebskoe Ekho, Borisoglebskie Izvestia, Rodnoy Kray, Golos Truda, Respublikanets, Borisoglebsky Vestnik, Borisoglebskaya Zhizn, and Fakel. The research determines the first and final dates of issues and the completeness of each newspaper. The study describes the development of county publications in 1917. After the February Revolution, the increasing number of publications resulted from both the lack of publishing constraints and the unprecedented hunger for information among the population. The study identifies the newspaper (Borisoglebskaya Zhizn) that published the articles of the outstanding writer Prince S.M. Wolkonsky based on the mention of this in his memoirs. The information capacity of Borisoglebsk newspapers with different political content, i.e. editorials, letters, chronicles, newspaper headlines, announcements, allows one to present the diverse and vast characteristics of various aspects of life in Borisoglebsk and the eponymous county in 1917.
