The article contains the results of a comparative legal study of corporate criminal liability under Indian law. Provisions of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, criminal law provisions of special acts (statutes) and case law were studied. It was found that the criminal liability of corporations in India exists due to historical reasons (e.g. absence of an independent branch of law of administrative offences) and due to the structure of the legal system of the state.
