Criminal legal and criminalistic characteristics of timber materials smuggling (article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)

The features of particular elements and signs of a corpus delicti under Art. 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, being direct characteristic of timber smuggling as a specific type of strategically important resources of the Russian Federation are considered in the article based on the fundamental analysis of the current criminal and customs legislation, materials of judicial and investigative practice on issues of law enforcement in terms of the qualification of illegal acts in the field of forest exploitation, official statistical data, as well as the leading scientists’ opinions in the field of criminal law doctrine and criminalistics; certain elements of criminalistic characteristics of this type of criminal encroachments are analyzed.
