Based on a scientific analysis, comparative legal method, and an example of a comparison of the laws of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Nicaragua, the article examines in detail the conditions, procedure and legal grounds for the production of an investigative law enforcement action - a search. The search at the preliminary investigation stage traditionally causes great interest of practitioners of law enforcement agencies as an urgent investigative action and an effective tool for obtaining new evidence in a criminal case, at the same time there are numerous human rights issues related to ensuring the constitutional rights of citizens. In the criminal procedure legislation of the Republic of Nicaragua, one of the most important states of Central America, which integrated the continental and Anglo-Saxon legal systems, there are legal novels that regulate legal relations in this area and promote uniform enforcement of the norms of criminal procedure legislation. These innovations can be implemented in domestic criminal procedure legislation.
