Ultraviolet radiation as disinfection method of biologically treated wastewater

Бесплатный доступ

The disinfection of biologically treated wastewater at sewage treatment facilities is carried out with liquid chlorine, which is then discharged into the reservoir together with the water. According to the existing rules for the protection of water bodies, free chlorine must be absent in water discharged into an open reservoir. The use of chlorine for decontamination of treated wastewater is associated with significant operating costs, measures to maintain equipment and pipelines in working condition and compliance with safety regulations. It is more expedient to apply the method of disinfection with ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
