Improving the cognitive function of the concepts of technical diagnostics using the system approach and the model's own properties

Preference for English-language publications affected the quality of Russian modern scientific terminology. The loss of the relationship between the basic concepts of technical diagnostics, resulting from their definitions in the monograph, is shown. The reasons for this situation include: neglect of fundamental Russian standards in the field of reliability and diagnostics, borrowing foreign definitions without taking into account the peculiarities of the national language, loss of the figurative perception of terms and lack of a scientific approach to the formation of definitions of concepts. On the basis of definitions of concepts formulated in the fundamental domestic standards, the relationships between failure, error, defect and malfunction are established, illustrated by a clear structural and functional model for diagnosing a computer system. To improve the cognitive function of concepts, it is proposed to use a systematic approach and the model’s own properties (function, structure, operation). With their use, a critical analysis of the definition of the concept of "testing" was performed. Based on the results of the analysis, a definition of this concept is proposed that satisfies system requirements.
