The article examines the key characteristics of postmodern culture (simulacrum, rhizome, hybridity, fragmentation) through the prism of the German term "unheimlich" (uncanny). Its various meanings are given, such as aesthetic category and its reflection in the art of postmodernism; phenomenon in psychoanalysis (Z. Freud) and existential (M. Heidegger). An attempt is made to analyze the influence of unheimlich on the philosophical and anthropological aspects of the development of the information society. In the context of changing the nature of work in the system of pre-carious employment (uncertainty), curiosity, opportunism, chatter, and cynicism come to the fore as valuable professional qualities. Other meanings of the term unheimlich are also given, which show its suggestiveness and the important explanatory potential of the phenomena of the post-industrial era and their transformation. In this study, postmodernism is considered not only as a statement of the crisis situation of the culture of the deontologized world, but also as an achieved awareness of the pluralism of forms of rationality, the removal of hierarchies and distances, the affirmation of diversity as a natural positive state.
