University as a cultural center

The paper analyzes the need to study university education within the framework of a holistic phenomenon of culture and suggests a model for the development of the university as its center. In accordance with this model, the university is considered in four projections as a cultural environment, the purpose of which is to create conditions for the formation of culture, the mission of the institution. It is also viewed as a crossroads of cultures, which aims to be a platform for dialogue between representatives of various cultures, as well as a place where cultural diversity is the subject of reflection. Moreover, we can look at it as a generator of culture, which is due to the formation of new knowledge and increasing the level of culture, as well as an integrator of society through the reproduction and creation of culture. The model of development of the university as a center of culture involves the use of its potential, which includes both education and science for forming students’ universal worldview.
