Flattened pebble with anthropomorphic facial image from the Lower Amur

The article for the first time describes the collection of archaeological findings from the Lower Amur region, which was sent as a gift to A.P. Okladnikov by a local historian from Nikolayevsk-on-Amur in 1980. The most interesting object in the collection is a flattened pebble with the representation of a bearded creature. For establishing the authenticity of the object, the pebble was subjected to trace examination, which revealed that the image was carved with a single metal tool, presumably a knife. Considering that bronze metallurgy was never widely spread in the Amur region and Primorie, it can be safely presumed that the tool was made of iron. The closest stylistic parallels to the representation can be found on the northern coast of the Sea of Okhotsk at the sites of the Tokarevo culture. The object can be most probably dated to the last centuries BC - first centuries AD.
