Russian management culture and the modern context

Effective management in any organization is the key factor to its success. In addition to a set of universal principles and tools based on psychological, social, mathematical, and other features, a certain cultural code invisibly determines the stability of the management model, its acceptance by people, and its organic character. Management culture is a unique phenomenon inherent in a particular national culture. The most successful post-industrial economies are ordered by American and Japanese management cultures, which are replicated as reference. Russian management culture has distinctive features that have contributed to both breakthrough achievements and great projects, as well as inefficient economic development. The article examines the properties of Russian management culture, the scholars’ positions on its relevance in the modern context, and attempts to assess it from the perspective of challenges to the modernization of the Russian economy.
