Management of information society: the risks of visual communication

The article reveals the features and risks of visual communication, which is extensively used in the media and on the Internet. The identified risks are presented through the prism of the problems of visible interpretation and identity. The author discusses using the concept of “visual discourse” since the visual transmission of information without verbal communication ruins the identity of reality from the viewpoint of its fragmentary perception by a specific individual. Management of information society is considered as the formation of information culture in the context of intensive interconnectivity, the emphasis on information as knowledge, convergence, the dispersion of knowledge and as a result the contradictions in broadcasting and consuming information determined by the personal qualities of people. This, in turn, defines the state's priority to be proactive in public information services, identify the discourse of communication forming information culture.
