The scientific article examines the history of Yakutsk Oblast administration at the initial stage of the Russian Civil War, in February - June 1918. It highlights the formation of the Regional Soviet - a new governing body in the Yakutsk Oblast established after October 1917, which did not recognize Soviet power. The strike movement against the Regional Council is considered, the development of the conflict with the Soviet authorities of the center of Russia and Siberia is traced, which ended with the arrival of A.S. Rydzinsky’s detachment and the establishment of Soviet power in Yakutia. Conclusion dwells upon the fact that the remoteness of the Yakutsk Oblast from the center of the country and the weakness of the Bolsheviks’ position in the region determined the peculiarities of the political situation development in the first half of 1918, the creation and activity of the Regional Council headed by Socialist Revolutionary V.V. Popov, who independently ruled the region. Popov, who ruled the region independently, not recognizing the Soviet power until its establishment in the summer of 1918, with the help of the Central Executive Committee of the Soviets of Siberia detachment.
