Managing the development of socially oriented non-profit organizations in the emerging civil society

The aim of the paper is to consider the specifics of managing the development of socially oriented non-profit organizations amid the formation of Russian civic society. The following research methods were used: theoretical data generalization, document content analysis, population questionnaire survey, semi-structured expert interview. It is established that when managing the development of socially oriented non-profit organizations, their features can be taken into account: the specifics of the organization's activities; legal independence or affiliation to a larger structure as a branch, subsidiary; the priorities of the founders of the organizations funds earned through the provision of paid services and received from charitable contributions; charitable contributions; the amount of assistance provided to non-profit organizations by federal, regional and local authorities; the financial and material and technical condition; the prospects for the development of the organization; the demand of the population in the types of services; the organization's popularity; the activity / passivity of the organization in the discussion and decision-making by official authorities; the presence of developed and implemented projects supported by foundations; full-time employees and volunteers; realism or formalism of organizational interaction with structures from the public, social and business sectors. The development of socially oriented non-profit organizations is associated with the improvement of their internal management processes and with the partial control of state and regional authorities, as well as local self-government structures.
