Inventory management in multilevel logistic systems

The models and methods of inventory management proposed in most sources are cumbersome and strongly theorized, while practitioners need understandable effective tools. The article deals with the principles of distribution of stocks in a multilevel logistic system and gives an example of the influence of various decisions on the rationing of stocks at different levels of the logistics system on the total volume of investments in stocks in the system as a whole. Object of research is a logistic system of a production enterprise. The subject of the study was the safety stocks of the enterprise. As a result of the research are descriptions of the main mistakes of management of safety stocks for the logistics system of that production enterprise. As an alternative tool, the Fetter model is proposed and its effectiveness is estimated.
