In a paper the mechanism of hardening of metal surfaces is considered at handling by the concentrated power sources. The outcomes of researches on hardening are reduced is exemplar from grey pig-iron by an electric arc mode. Is shown that the microhardness of a surface stratum hardened pig-iron has increased by 20 % on a comparison with usual hadening by heat treatment.
