Standard of living as a factor of the population’s debt load

The article is devoted to an actual problem of population’s debt load in the Republic of Buryatia. The authors have established the causes of debt load, with special attention paid to one of the main issues -the level of social and economic development and standard of living of its population. The paper presents some results of the authors ’ study of debt load in the region. The analysis of the current state of social and economic development of the Republic of Buryatia is held in comparison with the regions of the Siberian Federal District and the Russian Federation as a whole and in the context of municipal formations of the Republic of Buryatia. The analysis has revealed a slowdown in economic growth, decline in living standards of the population, strengthening of social tension due to increase of inequality in the distribution of money income and rising of unemployment. The authors have also discussed the problem of pension schemes, the deterioration of the demographic situation in the region. The paper analyzes the necessity of adopting comprehensive measures to help address the issue of social and economic development of the region as the main factor that has negative impact on the growth level of debt load of the population.
