The results of salvage excavations in the central part of Rostov the Greatare presented. The investigated town-plot dates from the second part of the 12 th - the firstthird of the 13 th cc. It included the remains of four household constructions of different ageenclosed within a wattle fence. Good state of preservation of timber let tracing constructivefeatures of the complexes. Collection of finds includes objects related to various aspectsof the citizens' life. Among unique objects a wooden cross and two glass beads set in silvercasing are worth mentioning. Similar ornaments are mostly known from hoards.
