The article deals with the problem of shrinkage of emulsion explosive Hydranit 90-P during drilling and blasting operations in watered wells. The disadvantage of soft polyethylene shell of cartridges and emulsion composition, which can lead to the formation of water plugs and reduce the efficiency of the explosion, is analysed. The results of the study are the determination of deviation from the design capacity of the explosive after charging and 24-hour shrinkage, as well as the conclusion on the need to improve the shrinkage quality of the emulsion explosive to improve the efficiency of drilling and blasting operations.
