In this work, a method was developed for calculating the thickness of the lubricating fi lm in the deformation zone during hot rolling of aluminum alloy strips on a fi ve-cell 2800 mill. The conditions of contact interaction between the working rolls and the workpiece are investigated, taking into account the modes of friction (dry, boundary and liquid). It was found that when using a water-oil emulsion with an oil phase content of 3-6%, the boundary tension prevails in the fi rst three cages.
