Depositional conditions and faunas in the llandovery-wenlock boundary interval (Chernov swell)

Results of litho-, chemo- and biostratigraphical studies of the lower Silurian Bezymyannyj section are presented, problems related to dating of the strata exposed, but also to the identification of the Llandovery-Wenlock boundary in the northern Urals' sections, discussed. These problems are mainly caused by poor preservation of macrofossils, lack of continuous faunal successions in strata of shallow-water origin, and gap(s) in the Llandovery-Wenlock boundary interval.
