Establishing psychological contact as a tactical organizational peculiarity of the investigator's work in interrogation of a suspect

Introduction. The researchers consider the essence of establishing psychological contact as a tactical organizational feature of the investigator’s work during the interrogation of a suspect. The content of the terms “establishing contact” and “psychological contact” is under study. Mаterials and Methods. The empirical basis of the article are the results of the questionnaire poll conducted by the authors. The participants of the monitoring carried out in 2016-2017 and in 2017-2018 academic years were the investigative units’ officers who studied at the correspondence, refresher courses and advanced training department of the Omsk Academy of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (78 respondents). Results and Discussion. Under examination is the content component of establishing psychological contact with the suspect during interrogation. It is stated that building rapport (establishing psychological contact) with the suspect depends on the type of crimes committed by him (e.g. property crimes, economic crimes, terrorist crimes, extremist crimes etc.). For effective communication during the interrogation it is necessary to gain the suspect’s confidence, psychological unity of the sides being a dynamic category implying not only establishment of psychological intimacy but also its support and development. Conclusions. The ability to feel the partner of communication determined by effective implementation of the investigator’s personal and business qualities as well as favorable environment are the conditions of successful establishing of psychological contact and demonstration of the investigator’s high professional level.
