The article actualizes the problems of socio-economic development of small towns and single-industry territories (regions) at the present stage, including demographic security, sustainable spatial development. Based on the analysis of the current state, the problems of small and single-industry towns are identified, recommendations for the activation of socio-economic processes are formulated.
