Sustainable development and energy efficiency in industry: interdependence and mutual dependence in modern conditions

The article examines the specifics of the implementation of these two directions of domestic policy, as well as the relationship that can be traced between the reduction of the energy intensity of the national economy and the opportunities for the effective consolidation of the principles of sustainable development in production processes. The research aims to identify signs of interdependence and mutual dependence between the concepts of sustainable development and energy efficiency improvement under modern conditions. At the same time, the author provides a theoretical analysis of the content of the relevant terms, the scope of their use and the expansion of the field of functioning. The policy of sustainable development and the strategy for achieving energy efficiency are considered both abstractly, in relation to the entire world community, and objectively, in relation to Russia. Characteristic interrelations between the indicated directions of economic regulation policy are identified. It is concluded that the principles of energy efficiency in industrial production underpin the sustainable development of the global economy. However, in modern conditions, technological modernization of energy production and consumption methods, along with accelerated reductions in the energy intensity of production, including in Russia, is necessary.
