The achievements of the workers of RISC "RTO" Physiology Department within the period from the early nineties till the present time have been briefly reviewed in the field of studying the functional conditions of systems and organs, which regularly take place in the process of orthopaedic-and-traumatological patient treatment by transosseous osteosynthesis method. The rational approaches are discussed, as well as the perspective trends in studying functional conditions of such patients, orientated towards optimization of rehabilitative process and timely correction of treatment-and-rehabilitation measures. The basis of functional diagnostics in treatment of orthopaedic-and-traumatological diseases should be consisted in a process-related approach, which rests on the principle of rehabilitative measure economizing and allows to develop effective diagnostics-and-rehabilitation standards.
