The last years differ in growth of research interest in questions of history of ecclesiastical law. One of examples of such trends seems to be the publication of the monograph by I. A. Matselyukh. This book can be considered as one of interesting examples of the attentive relation of the scientist-lawyer to questions of history of Church and its Canon Law. The special value of work is that it is carried out in scientific community of Ukraine and allows to get acquainted with the scientific interests of colleagues of the adjacent country. While some provisions of the research have debatable character, the work makes the kindest impression. In the conclusions the author managed to lean on wide layer of sources and literature. Author's assessment about influence of the Polish and Lithuanian legal cultures on development of Church Law in Ukraine and in Russia has novelty and deserves close attention
