Variability of the 557.7 nm atmospheric emission

The variability of diurnal, day-to-day and monthly average values of the 557.7 nm atmospheric emission intensity (I5577) is analysed. The analysis rests on airglow observations obtained in Eastern Siberia (52° N, 103° E) over 1997-2010. The variation coefficient KV of corresponding values is taken as the variability index. This paper examines results obtained for the solar cycle 23: namely, the seasonal KV variation in monthly averaged I5577, the dependence of monthly averaged I5577 for each month on solar activity, the variation coefficient of diurnal I5577 for different seasons, the I5577 variability during some geophysical phenomena, and the correlation of I5577 variations with global climatic indexes.
