Option for modernizing the content of training in the field of “Applied informatics”

The goals of teaching computer science are formulated. The model of the scientific discipline “Informatics” is discussed in relation to teaching its applied issues. Based on the analysis of methodological literature, the inevitability of further modernization of the education system is affirmed. The interrelation of trends in the development of hardware, software and algorithmic support, which significantly influence the development of computer science and, in particular, applied computer science, is highlighted. A set of methods for solving practical problems is listed that are universal in nature and do not depend on industry specifics. It is argued that training in industry profiles is losing its relevance due to the emergence of universal computer science methods. Industry-independent training content is offered for the “Applied Informatics” section related to knowledge and data engineering. The structure of teaching sections of computer science within the framework of training in the profile “Intelligent Information Systems and Technologies” is presented, developed on the basis of the existing set of disciplines used in teaching applied informatics in the profile “Informatics in Economics”. The content of training in disciplines directly related to knowledge engineering is considered. The prospects for further development of the components of computer science are discussed.
