Varicose veins in the elderly patients: problems and prospects

Varicose veins of the lower extremities are quite common in the elderly population. The severity of venous disease is determined by the individual tolerance of the symptoms of varicose veins, taking into account the natural aging of the body and the existing comorbid status. This article provides an overview of the problem of varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency in general and through the prism of patients of the older age group. The advantages and limitations of various approaches to the diagnostics and treatment of varicose veins in the gerontological patients are discussed and presented.
