Vasiliy Ivanovich Dolotskiy - the first professor of liturgical studies

The purpose of this article is to fill the gap in relation to V.I. Dolotskiy as a liturgy teacher, giving a brief outline of his life and work. In the process of teaching V.I. Dolotskiy used historical approach in the liturgy, which, however, is fragmented. It was V.I. Dolotskiy who laid a foundation of scientific liturgy in the SPbTA at a turning point before the reform of year 1869 and in the early reform years. V.I. Dolotskiy can be considered to be the first Orthodox liturgical scholar in the strict sense of the word.
